Rev3 Cedar Point!

This is LONG overdue, but Rev3 Cedar Point was a great race!! And here's the deal, the race for next year is going to be even better!! Rev3 has added two kid's triathlons and a sprint triathlon to the weekend fun...this means kid's, sprint, half, and full distances will be offered Sept 8-9, 2012!! Some of these races are discounted....so check it out here!!

For you super bad asses out there, Rev3 is also offering Sprint + Half! Crazy!!

This year, the race was a tad different for me. I have been trying to dig out of my 'funk' and the week of the race was the first time I had been able to successfully run longer than an hour. If you remember, I had originally signed up for the full distance race, then asked to change to the half, and then decided that wasn't going to work.....race morning-lots of volunteers!

So, I switched to the half aqua bike. I've never competed in one of these before, but thought it was the best idea. It was the 1.2mile swim, followed by the 56mile bike, and.....nothing. That's it. NO RUNNING!! :) I did a short transition run for training, but my race was over the moment I crossed the timing mat heading into transition off the bike. Kinda weird, but really cool!! For those of you who struggle with the run, I really think this an excellent option; maybe something to consider if you have knee issues??

I had a pretty tough swim--just wasn't ever really comfortable, and swallowed a crap ton of Lake Erie. Transitions were pretty solid and the bike was (for the most part) flat and fast. I had sooo much fun!!

This was also Emily's (my wife) first race at the half distance. She did great! Unfortunately, Murphey (our chocolate lab) is quadriplegic, and doesn't like to be left alone, so he couldn't make the adventure. But, Allie, our golden was there and had a great time!! She enjoyed posing for pictures with peeps as well as crossing the finish line with Emily!! Rev3 doesn't discourage people from crossing with their families--because let's be real--it's not just the athlete who has sacrificed. The support of family and friends are important to the athlete, and in some races (half and full distance) I think spectating can be just as hard as racing!! Just try it!! Anyway, Emily and I don't have kids (with two legs) so she ran across with our four-legged princess! Allie loved the attention, and Rev3 even hooked her up with a little medal. Thanks Rev3!!I'm such a dork! Me in the blue

Next up Rev3 Anderson, SC baby!!

  1. I will never forget standing with Kelly and getting all worried because we saw you come in and then didn't see you come out. Finally you started biking away and we were so confused! :)

Great job... and I loved that Allie got to be part of the fun! That's REV3 for you!!!
