Rev3 Anderson, SC!

Rev3 Anderson, SC Finisher Medals

Revolution 3 Anderson, SC was the last race that I have "scheduled" for the year. Again, another amazing Revolution 3 Triathlon event!! The Rev3 staff do a great job of working together and promoting a fun family atmosphere, as evident by allowing friends and family to finish with the athletes, listening to suggestions from the participants, and including events for the little ones! I'm continually impressed with their execution of the event and the management of the logistics!!

So......let's talk about me :)

Allie, once again made an appearance at the practice swim. Allie thought it was pretty sweet that people from Facebook recognized and wanted to take their picture with her.
My journey back from this fatigue hole that I built for myself was something else! I've never really experienced this before--basically, you feel like you're putting out, your heart rate sky-rockets, and when you look at your pace, it's way to slow!! I took about a month off, then started gearing up for this race. My goal for the event was to just simply finish solid, without any issues.

The swim was great! TYR makes some seriously bad ass wetsuits, and it's too bad that we don't get to wear them around often---yes they are that cool! I swam the .9mile with relative ease, and quite honestly, didn't push myself hard enough. Olympic distance racing can be a little confusing for me and I sometimes think if I push too hard I'll blow up, so I race a little on the conservative side....

I came out of the water and felt great! Not winded and smiling...even got a shout-out from

Ashley from Rev3!

The bike section was rolling an beautiful.....and then "pop"... Yup! Blown tire....I pulled over, made a quick change and was rolling again. Here's where my race then began to fall apart--sort of. I was a little pissed that I flatted and was pushing hard for the rest of the ride. On each of the climbs, I was cursing out loud...telling the hill it could "go #$@! yourself!" Luckily no kids were around me as Rev3 is known for being family friendly! I only had one bottle of fluid on the bike--2 scoops of First Endurance EFS and 1 scoop of PreRace. I could have used some Liquid Shot for added calories, but nope....Ryan didn't plan this too well.

The hard pace I was pushing because of the flat took it out of my legs. When I hit T2 and came to the run, I gave it a go, but I was slow (around a 7:45 pace). My dumbass forgot to have any nutrition for the run waiting at T2 and I didn't even think about taking anything on the course....What a rookie mistake!! Or would a rookie do that?? I don't know; but I do know that I wasn't moving too fast, which was a disappointment because my training had been going so well.

Anyway, I made the final (or what I thought was the final) turn into the park and was pushing as hard as I could, excited about finishing and being done. Then a volunteer directed me to turn up this little hill...GRRRRRR! *Again a mistake; know the course....

I made the little horse shoe route up the hill and back down to the finish line! Glad to be finished! I waited for Emily (my wife was racing too!) who wasn't that far behind to cross as well. Shortly after, I made my way to the beer for some post race shenanigans! And, Allie needed a cup to drink her water out of...Coincidence that attorneys advertise on the side of the beer cups??? I think not!

I ended up 3rd in my AG, which is pretty good considering how my race unfolded and the ding-dong mistakes I made. Maybe I should review this next race so I don't make them again!?

Another awesome Rev3 behind the scene person who does a great job of taking care of me...('cuz I need lots of taking care of!)Hi Krista!

While I was happy to be finished, and looking forward to some down time, I knew that it might be quite some time before I saw the Rev3 crew and my teammates again...great extended family and maybe I'll see'em in 2012 at Rev3 Costa Rica!!!

If you can't find a Pilot, you're just not looking!

And thanks again to Pilot/Flying J for supporting athletes! I had a great time meeting and talking with you at the race!.....So peeps, consider purchasing your fuel from someone who supports you!!

  1. All but one flat I've ever had has been right out of T1; it's a curse. Solid race though man. Congrats!
