I haven't done any training for two weeks now and it's really been a nice break. When I write "any training", I mean just that---I've been on the couch getting caught up on TV. By the way there are some pretty bad ass new shows on! But, total chill time has come to an end. Today marks the journey into next year, and at some point I'll reflect on 2011 races and goals, but I'm not ready for that yet. 2011 has been not so good and I'm ready to pry my ass off the couch and get move'n. Goals are important to establish for success (most people know that) and they act like a navigational beacon to keep us on track, or illustrate how we may need to adjust our course. Until all the sport psych classes I've taken, I didn't realize just how important goals are... So, I've decided to share some of my goals for the week:
- Train 2 X 30' in each sport (s/b/r) with all easy aerobic
- Drop 1-2lbs (sitting on the couch can make you fat!!)
- Schedule my practicum work for my final project for my Masters in sport psych
- Get at least 8hrs of sleep each night
- Clean bike, put trainer tire on, and set up for future workouts
- Clean treadmill and re-calibrate
- Begin to create potential 2012 race schedule
As you can tell, some of these are pretty easy (like #5) and I've done this on purpose. I want my goals to include challenging (lose 1-2lbs) and easier goals. If they are all difficult, I may feel frustrated--set yourself up for success! Some of these goals are simply a "to do" list, but I find by setting it in this manner, it will aid in my success later on. For example, I won't have an excuse why I couldn't get my ride in, because it is already all set up on the trainer.
We'll see how I do next Monday, and I challenge you to consider creating goals of your own.

That's a great list! I'm with you, I've taken the last two week completely off! It felt really weird, really uncomfortable. I've got a plan for this week, and somehow just having that gave me a sense of balance again. whew! :D Good luck with your plan this week!! Go get em!
ReplyDeleteSolid list. Reminds me to go back and review my 2011 season goals to see how many I'm able to cross off. Gotta keep myself honest.
ReplyDeleteI'm not quite sitting on the couch, btu I'm feeling pretty much the same way about 2011 reflection and 2012 planning. Just not there yet! Carry on. Love the goals.. .love having some easy ones! Gotta give yourself some low hanging fruit man... plus it's still hard to reach from the couch. ha j/k
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great list - all very attainable so you aren't asking for things that are out of reach! Hope the kick start goes well! :)
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you'll be able to get the bike on the trainer after all the couch time?? LOL. You're motivating me to write some new goals!
